Deep-Fried Pizza

Italian Deep Fried Pizza!😱 EASY - NO OVEN Pan Pizza!

Deep frying is a great way to make pizza. This is an authentic Italian recipe, and the method I’m showing here is the way we’ve been making fried pizza in my family for years. It’s so versatile - you can split the fried pizza dough and stuff it with fillings, or you can top it with your favorite pizza toppings!

How to make Deep-Fried Pizza

Scroll down for amounts of ingredients

Step 1

Make the pizza dough

To make the dough by hand…

In a large bowl combine the flour, yeast, salt (add the yeast and salt on opposite sides of the bowl) and water and mix to combine.

Once your dough comes together, tip the dough onto your work surface and continue bringing the dough together with your hands. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then add 1 tbsp of oil and continue kneading until a supple dough forms.

Transfer the dough into an oiled bowl, cover and allow to rise for 2 to 3 hours at room temp.

To make the dough using a stand mixer…

Add all the ingredients into your mixer and mix on high for 3 minutes. Then transfer dough into a greased bowl, cover and allow to rise for 2 to 3 hours at room temperature

Step 2

Make the pizza sauce

Slice the garlic, and cook gently in extra virgin olive oil for 3 minutes. Add the tomato sauce, salt and basil, and cook for 15 more minutes.

Step 3

Fry the pizza dough

Once your dough has trippled in volume, transfer it onto your work surface and cut out your dough balls. You can make these whatever size your heart desires.I made 3 small ones and one large one. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let these rest for 20 minutes.

Preheat your olive oil to 180°C (350°F).

If you've made small dough balls, gently stretch them out using your hands. If you've made bigger ones, use a rolling pin and roll out your pizzas.

Once the oil has preheated gently and carefully lower your pizza into the hot oil and cook on each side for about 2 - 3 minutes. Adjust your flame as needed.

Step 4

Assemble the pizza

Transfer pizza onto some clean paper towels, add a pinch of salt on top and serve! You can either enjoy this as is or split the pizza in half and add your toppings in the middle.

If you'd like to add the toppings on top, add them while the pizza is still hot so the cheese melts!
